Nigel is a founder member of The B Flats and the lead vocalist for the band. He also plays Concert, Tenor And Baritone Ukuleles, Guitar and will pick up the U-Bass from time to time. He has been a member of local Ukulele clubs for many years and a few times each year he organises a good ol' fashioned singalong for family and friends at a local pub. Nigel has also been
playing and teaching Ukulele and Bass for many years. He is a natural front-man and the main contact for the band so please get in touch for more information.
Nigel - "My most memorable musical moment has been fairly recently whilst Will and I were visiting a friend, and fellow Ukulele player, in Cirencester Hospital. We played a few songs on the ward with patients and staff joining in. The sound travelled and we soon ended up doing the rounds!"
Will has been playing Banjolele, Concert and Tenor Ukuleles and Kazoo for nearly a decade as a member of various ukulele clubs in Gloucestershire. He is proud to be one of the founder members of The B Flats and is also the eldest member of the band. He enjoys taking part and organising vibrant jamming sessions at his local pub. Also known as Billy Banjo, He sings a mean version of The Black Velvet Band.
Will - "Apart from being a member of The B Flats Band, my most memorable musical memory is playing Banjolele on the American Queen Stern Wheeler cruising up the Mississippi from New Orleans to Memphis."
Allan started playing Guitar at the age of 13 and between the ages of 16 to 19, in the 'Swinging 60's', he was lead guitarist for a band playing gigs in the north of England. After a lengthy sabbatical and having retired, in 2013 he picked up a Ukulele and learnt to play it. He joined a local Ukulele club before extending his talents to Bass Guitar and becoming a founder member of The B Flats. Although he has another hidden talent of playing Piano, he is more well known for being Mr Cool, the Ice Man, on bass!!
Allan - "My most memorable musical moment was back in the 60's when, with my then band, we supported many bands including The Moody Blues, Herman's Hermits and Them (Van Morrison's band)! Playing with The B Flats is just as satisfying now!"
Les spent many years singing in a male voice choir. On retirement, he decided to learn to play Ukulele and Banjolele to add to his skills. Besides being a member of a few local Ukulele clubs and playing at gigs, in 2018 the opportunity arose to get together with some of the other lads and The B Flats Ukulele Band was founded. Although playing Concert and Electric Tenor Ukulele, and Banjolele with the band, he also has a hidden talent of playing Piano. He enjoys playing at all kinds of functions around Gloucestershire and The Cotswolds.
Les - "My most memorable musical moments are of when I was stationed in Hong Kong. Whilst singing with the Welsh Male Voice Choir, we sang many times in the Governor's residence, entertaining some of the world's dignitaries."
Dave has been playing Concert,Tenor, 4 and 8 string Ukuleles and Kazoo since 2016 . Although he has been a member of a few local Ukulele clubs since then, he is one of The B Flats newest members, joining them in February 2023.
Dave - "My most memorable musical moment was performing solo in a passenger entertainment show on a cruise holiday. Little did I know the house would be packed with 300 people turning up to watch!"
Jim has been playing Concert Ukulele and Banjolele as a member of local Ukulele clubs since 2016. He enjoys arranging impromptu Open Mic nights at a local pub and attending the Sidmouth Folk Festival where he enjoys street busking. He is one of the newest member of the band, joining in February 2023.
